Presentation

The Peninsula of Gâvres, isolated at the end of its tombolo, has been impacted for several decades by marine submersion and erosion. To solve these problems on the beach of Gâvres, facilities have been installed in the past, and new work will be launched this year to optimize the existing facilities.

The prupose of the FUGASCIA project is to involve citizens in the management of the coastline, in the acquisition of field data and to share knowledge through the establishment of an OCLM site. This site will enable local residents to regularly report any changes in the facilities and the beach.

It is also a question of instituting collective thinking and consultation on adaptation strategies to climate change, bringing together citizens, elected officials, managers and scientists, through various workshops-debates, meetings and surveys that will be proposed.

Main actions

    • Knowledge exchange between scientists, managers, elected officials and citizens,
    • Implementation of a participatory science project on the beach of Gâvres,
    • Thinking, collective and prospective adaptation strategies
